We at Hope Alive Ministry are passionate about celebrating differences. Everyone is different and it is nothing to be ashamed of. Our differences make us who we are. However, children with special needs have differences that might make them stand out more. Celebrating differences is important because differences are not bad things. For example, our differences can help us be more compassionate.
Celebrating differences can be done by showing that children with special needs are just like us – They just have different needs. They are no less or better than anyone else. Their differences make them special! Sometimes special needs parents celebrate their child’s differences by showing pictures of their child enjoying things “typical” children enjoy such as playing at the park. When we celebrate their differences, we get to know truly what an amazing person they are. If more people would celebrate differences, perhaps there would be less hatred in the world.
How do you try to celebrate differences?
