March is national autoimmune awareness month. 50 million Americans are affected by autoimmune diseases, where the body attacks itself. It affects 75% women more than men. They are one of the top ten killers among women under age 64. There are over 100 autoimmune diseases such as:

- ulcertive colitis
- crohn’s disease
- Celiac Disease
- Addison’s Disease
- Lyme Disease

These disease tend to cluster in families. If your grandparents had an autoimmune disease, you are at a greater risk of developing one.
Less than 13% of Americans can name an autoimmune disease.
